Unclassified Supervisors

Leadership Principles I

A four day course in Leadership Development to provide supervisors/managers with the necessary tools to guide our workforce in achieving  the University's strategic plan and mission. All four days of this course must be completed to receive credit.

The training can be accessed through Cornerstone via ULink.

  1.     Log in to ULink
  2.     On the Employee tab, in the Human Resources box, click Cornerstone, which redirect you into the system.
  3.     Once in Cornerstone, click the navigation menu icon , click Learning, then select Browse for Training.
  4.     Select Leadership Principles I , then select the desired session.

 

Front-Line Supervisory Training

This web based training is designed for Unclassified employees who are newly appointed and/or promoted to a supervisory role.  This training will familiarize new supervisors with skills and resources to help them supervise employees.
To access the Web-based Cornerstone Trainings:

  1. Log in to ULink
  2. On the Employee tab, in the Human Resources box, click Cornerstone, which redirect you into the system.
  3. Once in Cornerstone, click the navigation menu icon  , click Learning, then select Browse for Training.
  4. Select  the desired course title to request/launch training.

 


 

Classified Supervisors

The State Civil Service Commission has established Mandatory Supervisory Training requirements in accordance with Civil Service Rule 25.2 for all employees who occupy jobs designated as part of a Supervisory Group.  If you've been identified as a Classified Supervisor in Groups 1 or 2, you are required to complete the following Core training courses below within ONE (1) year of your hire date or promotion to your supervisory role.

Core Supervisory Group Courses:

  • Civil Service Essentials for Supervisors
  • Hiring and Retaining Top Talent
  • Myths that Affect Good Supervision
  • Leave Management
  • Validating Employee Performance
  • Core Capstone Workshop (1 day Instructor Lead Training)

Group 1

If you have been identified as a Group 1 Supervisor, you are ALSO required to complete the following Supervisory Group One (1) Courses within THREE (3) YEARS of your hire date or promotion to your supervisory role:

  • Ethical Behavior in the Workplace (1 day Instructor Lead Training)    OR    Building Trust  (Cornerstone)
  • Managing and Improving Work Processes (1 day Instructor Lead Training )  OR  Supervisor’s Toolbox:  Managing and Improving Work Processes (Cornerstone)
  • Change Management  (Cornerstone)
  • Communicating Top Down Messages (Cornerstone)
  • Emotional Intelligence 1  (Cornerstone)
  • Inspirational Leadership (Cornerstone)
  • Situational Leadership (Cornerstone)
  • Supervisory Group 1 Capstone Workshop (1 day Instructor Lead Training)

You are also required to take one (1) elective from the following choices: 

  • Conflict Management  (Cornerstone)
  • Delegating Effectively  (Cornerstone)
  • Developing Effective Teams 1  (Cornerstone)

To access the Web-based Cornerstone Trainings:

  1.  Log in to ULink
  2.  On the Employee tab, in the Human Resources box, click Cornerstone, which redirect you into the system.
  3.  Once in Cornerstone, click the navigation menu icon , click Learning, then select Browse for Training.
  4.  Select  the desired course title to launch training.

Continuing Education Courses  Performance Year 19-20

The following courses will satisfy the CPTP Continuing Education requirement under the 2015 Mandatory Supervisory Training Requirements. Learners may take any one of the courses below to earn the credit.
 

  1. Competency Basics WBT (Cornerstone)    
  2. Employee LIfe Cycle WBT (Cornerstone)
  3. Disability Awareness WBT (Cornerstone)
  4.  Disability Etiquette WBT (Cornerstone)
  5. Cubicle Etiquette WBT (Cornerstone)
  6. Dealing with Difficult People WBT (Cornerstone)
  7. Delegating Effectively WBT (Cornerstone)
  8. Communicating Top-Down Messages WBT (Cornerstone)
  9. Emotional Intelligence III (ILT)
  10. Situational Leadership III (ILT)

Group 2

If you have been identified as a Group 2 Supervisor, you must complete all of the Group 1 Requirements, and are ALSO required to complete the following Supervisory Group Two (2) Courses within FOUR (4) YEARS of your hire date or promotion to your supervisory role:

  • Situational Leader 2 (Cornerstone)
  • Emotional Intelligence 2  (Cornerstone)
  • Strategic Thinking (Cornerstone)
  • Organizational Dynamics (Cornerstone)
  • Ethical Leadership (Cornerstone)
  • Work/LIfe Balance (Cornerstone)
  • Prioritizing Tasks with Mission (Cornerstone)
     

You are also required to take one (1) elective from the following choices:

  • Conflict Management  (Cornerstone) OR (1/2 day Instructor Lead Training)
  • Critical Thinking (Cornerstone)
  • Developing Effective Teams 2  (Instructor Lead Training)
