In an effort to provide enhanced benefits, greater access, and improved services to our employees, we have made significant changes to our voluntary benefits programs that will go into effect on January 1, 2017.

•         Dental Insurance:

MetLife will replace Cresent Dental as our dental insurance provider.  With this change, the maximum annual benefit per covered individual will increase from $1,000 to $1,500.         The rates will remain the same.  In addition to being able to stay with their current dentist, employees will now be able to choose from the more than 160  (compared to Cresent’s 35)    local dentists in MetLife’s national network.   All current participants will be required to reenroll to continue coverage.

•         Long-term Disability:

MetLife will continue as our long-term disability insurance provider.  The maximum monthly benefit will increase from $4,000 to $6,000 with no change in rates.

•         Cafeteria Plan/Flexible Spending Accounts:

The Office of Group Benefits will take over management of the cafeteria plan.  Under this plan, employees will gain online claims submission,  account access, and debit cards for payment of eligible expenses.   All participants, including those who only wish to have their premiums deducted pretax, will be required to reenroll.

•         Vision Insurance:

VSP (Vision Service Plan) will replace Eyemed as our vision insurance provider.  Considered one of the best vision insurance providers available, VSP provides higher coverage limits and is geared towards local providers rather than Eyemed’s company owned retailers such as Lenscrafters, Target, or JC Penney.

We will have representatives from Metlife and OGB at the Benefits Fair this Thursday, October 6, 2016, to speak with employees about these changes.  Please encourage your employees to attend this once a year opportunity to learn more about the benefits available to them,  from the actual providers.

Flu Shots will also be given during the Benefits Fair.  These shots will be provided at no cost to employees and their dependents who are enrolled in our health insurance.
