Protective Workplace Guidelines

The following protocols are imposed to limit and mitigate potential COVID-19 exposures on campus:

  • Individuals and departments are to utilize online technology for meetings. Microsoft Teams is available to all employees on their PCs and mobile devices.
  • When an in-person meeting is unavoidable, the number of individuals meeting should not exceed 25% of the room’s maximum capacity for seated individuals.
  • Employees must maintain social distancing of eight feet when possible.
  • Employees must refrain from shaking hands and other forms of physical contact except when rendering aid to an ill, injured or disabled individual. In the case of assisting, employees should exercise caution if the individual is symptomatic.
  • Interdepartmental traffic must be limited to essential business activities and transactions that cannot be executed telephonically, through technology, or remotely.
  • Departments must maintain visitor logs to track contacts in the event of an on-campus exposure.
  • Utilize interdepartmental mail or email for non-critical transactions.
  • Faculty and staff must refrain from accessing highly populated non-essential areas of the University absent a business necessity.  This includes but is not limited to the Union, Library, etc.
  • Supervisors must provide Student employees with instructions and contact information for reporting current or possible future exposure to COVID-19. 
  • High-Risk Employees – Employees who self-identify as immunocompromised/high-risk who have not been instructed by their healthcare provider to self-isolate should, where appropriate, be encouraged to telework. In cases where teleworking is not is not a suitable solution, the use of annual or compensatory leave should be encouraged. High-risk employees are encouraged to contact the ADA/EEO Coordinator at hrcompliance@louisiana.edu to determine whether they qualify for reasonable accommodations.   • Limit the duration of the event and number of attendees. Meet no longer than the time needed to complete the task.
  • Employees’ children and family members are not permitted in campus offices during the workday.
